Attorneys - Jon D. Robinson, Partner
Jon Robinson Jon D. Robinson obtained his Bachelors degree from the University of Illinois and his Juris Doctorem from the University of Tennessee in 1971, when he joined the firm of Hull, Campbell & Robinson. Upon the retirement of his partners, he formed the law firm of Bolen Robinson & Ellis, LLP, of which he is senior partner. He is a member of Phi Alpha Delta and the Decatur, Illinois, and American Bar Associations.

Mr. Robinson is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Supreme Court as well as numerous Federal District Courts throughout the United States. He has been involved as counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants in major civil litigation, including commercial, labor relations, personal injury, and products liability. Mr. Robinson continues to litigate complex cases in Federal and State courts throughout the United States.

Mr. Robinson participated as co-lead counsel for Plaintiffs in Garza, et al. v. Remington Arms Company, et al., Civil Action No. SA-93-CA-1082, filed in the United States District Court, Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division. This case involved ten million class members who owned Remington Model 1100, Model 870 and Model 11-87 12-gauge shotguns. The Remington litigation led to a change of the steel for barrels of the popular 12-gauge shotguns, which produced a safe product. This class action case was the culmination of 18 years of litigation for Robinson against Remington Arms Company involving defective 12-gauge shotguns which had caused numerous personal injuries, at a time when few, if any, others had been successful against Remington. Notable cases against Remington include, King v. Remington Arms Company, 89-CA-340-MR, Ky, Appellate Court (1990), which was upheld on appeal through the United States Supreme Court; Loitz v. Remington Arms Company, 177 Ill.App.3d 1034, 127 Ill.Dec. 262, 532 N.E.2d 1091 (4th Dist. 1989); Moore v. Remington Arms Co., Inc., 100 Ill.App.3d 1102, 56 Ill.Dec. 413, 427 N.E.2d 608 (4th Dist. 1981).

Recently, Mr. Robinson co-authored the Appellee's brief and successfully argued in the Illinois Supreme Court the case Andrews, et al. v. Kowa Printing Corp., et al., 217 Ill.2d 101, 838 N.E.2d 894, 298 Ill.Dec. 1 (2005). Andrews is a seminal case under the Illinois Wage Pay and Collection Act that, among other things, clarified that corporate officers of defunct Illinois corporations cannot be held liable for unpaid wages when he or she was not in control of the corporation at the time the payments came due. This case provides significant protection to Illinois corporate officers and clarifies, for the first, certain provisions of the Wage Act.

Past community activities include the United Way, Boys Club, YMCA, and Community Home Environmental Learning Program Board (CHELP). He is the past Director of Mutual Home & Savings Bank, Decatur and is currently serving on the Boards of Directors for St. Mary's Hospital, Friends of St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, and Regions Bank. Mr. Robinson is an active member of Woodland Chapel Presbyterian Church, and has served on mission teams locally for the Lost Bridge Great Banquet and throughout the United States for Lampstand Ministries, Inc.
